Hi. Casey Jensen here, OptionsANIMAL. Perhaps you’re new to the stock market or new to investing, and you’ve heard people say things like, “I’m going long on a position”, and you wonder, “I don’t know what that means just yet.” We’ve been in your shoes. Everyone starts somewhere.
What does it mean to go long? There’s a lot of different things you can do. You can buy a stock, you can buy a currency, you can buy a commodity, or you can even buy an option. That just means you’re going long. When you buy, you’re going long.
